Updating Your Website and the Benefits

If you run a website you will probably have heard a lot about updating your website but what do you need to do and how can you use this to increase your sales? This is not always obvious so the aim of this article is to help you out with these questions.

The first thing to look at is ways in which you can update your content. The first thing to say is that you should not update your content for the sake of it. If you are changing the text on your website it should be for a reason. We would recommend looking at ways to add things to your website when you are updating and this can include:

1. Latest News

2. Articles

3. Blogs

You can get the maximum benefits from these by having a section on your home page that shows a snippet of your latest news, articles of blog posts. This will keep your site up to date with new content appearing regularly.

However it is worth saying that if you are going to add something like this then you need to make sure that you are going to write something regularly. For example, suppose you have a latest news section but you only update it every 6 months. This will not look great as it shows there is very little going on with your company or industry or that you have not bothered to update it. If you are going to have changing content you should ensure you are able to update it at least once a month.

So now you need to think about why you would want to update your content on a regular basis. There are several reasons but below we have put the reasons that we consider are most important:

1. Search Engine Optimisation

One of the biggest aims of every website is to get to the top of the search engines and one of the things they love is new content. So if you are updating your content regularly then you will be supplying the search engines with new things to index and to get hold of. You will be surprised at the amount this can help your rankings in the search engines and is something we would recommend to most people.

2. Marketing

This is great for people coming to your website. They will get to see the latest information about your company or what you are doing. When people are looking to buy they like to get as much information as possible. It also shows them that you update your website regularly which shows you are actively working your business. This gives extra confidence as it can help to demonstrate a successful business.

You can also allow people to sign up to regular updates by email and you can email them the updates that you add to your website. This allows for additional marketing opportunities, either by giving existing customers a nudge to buy more or by attracting new people.

So you can see that there are numerous ways to add content to your website and by doing so you give yourself more opportunities to convert more visitors into sales as well as getting more visitors to your site. As these should be the aims of all websites it is well worth doing.

How to Build a Solid Internet Presence

Filed under: Affiliate Marketing, Directory, Gurus, Programs, Tips — Admin @ 1:02 am

If you want to take your business online it is important you do it right to ensure you get the most out of your efforts. There are three main areas you should concentrate on to build a quality online presence and this article will consider them in turn.

1. Build a Brand

If you are getting a website done it is important that it conveys the right message. Have you seen those very cheap looking websites that look almost home made? What impression does this give you of the company? For me and for many it makes us run a mile. Think about it in the same way you would other marketing material. If you were giving someone a brochure would you give them a piece of A4 paper where you had drawn it yourself? If the answer is no why would you do the same with your website?

When you get your website done you should have a proper logo and a high quality design. It is important to let your customers know that you mean business. Also by having a well designed website you can create the impression of being a much bigger company than you are and this will help you to build confidence in your customers. In our experience, more confidence means more sales.

2. Think about Usability

It is important that your site doesnt only look good but is easy to use. Whatever the aim of your website, your users should be able to find it easily. For example if you are selling products online your site should be set up so that it is easy to find products and the check out process is as simple as possible.

However you also need to think about how you set things up if you offer a service. Usually your aim will be to have people contact you, either through a form or by calling you. This means you need to make your contact details obvious and dont make people hunt for them. Internet users are notoriously impatient and so if they cant figure out how to contact you they probably wont.

3. Search Engine Optimisation

Now you have a great looking easy to use website, have you thought about how people will find it? If not then you are missing another vital part of building your web presence. We have had many companies come to us and they think they can build a website and then make sales. If only this was the case. There is so much competition out there and people trying to sell that you need to have an advantage. The best way to do this is to dominate the search engines as this is how most people find what they are looking for. Without an effective SEO campaign you will find that you make very few sales and get very few visitors.

All three of the above elements should be taken together, you cannot have one without the other. However if you take all of them into account and work hard it is still possible to make money online. Where most people fall down is they do not invest enough time or money into at least one of the above. This will only result in failure and the feeling that the internet does not work. It is the same as any business, you need to invest time and money to build a reputation.
